Conference & AGM
The Mid Down Support Group is holding its AGM & One-day
Conference on Thursday 3rd November 2011 in the Lodge,
Dublin Road, Castlewellan. The day will begin at 10.15am with
registration. The AGM will commence at 10.30am.
The programme is based on topics that are relevant to people
affected by Multiple Sclerosis. Our guest speakers bring a wide
range of knowledge to the conference and we hope that people
affected by a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis will come along and
when they leave at the end of the day they will have information
that will help them in their everyday life.
Our speakers are Dr Seamus Kearney who is a Registrar in
Neurology the Royal Victoria Hospital. He will give a
presentation on MS, covering symptoms and treatments. He gave a
talk before in Downpatrick Library which was of great benefit to
members of the group.
Our next speaker will be from the Benefits Entitlement Unit. The
organisations main role is to ensure that people get the benefits
that they are entitled to. The complex forms are very difficult to
fill in and quite often people with disabilities do not apply and
therefore are not getting the benefits they are entitled to. The
above organisation will come to your home and help to fill in
relevant forms.
Our next speaker is Mr Frank Rogers who is manager of Citizens
Advice Bureau in Downpatrick. He will speak about the role of CAB
and how they can help the local community to resolve problems with
benefits, debts and many other issues.
The conference is open to everyone. You could be a person with
MS or a family member who is affected by a diagnosis of MS.
